Bryan Stevenson’s Great Talk at TEDMED 2012

by Kim Kristiansen M.D. on July 24th, 2012

The start at TEDMED 2012 could hardly have been more powerful than with Bryan Stevenson’s talk, which is just released by TEDMED today. We were all on our feeds in a standing ovation after the talk. Bryan Stevenson is the Executive Director of the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) in Montgomery, Alabama and is also a Professor of Law at the New York University School of Law. He is one of the most effective public service lawyers in US. So why start a conference about innovation and the future in health and medicine with a lawyer? Bryan Stevenson argues that to change a system that isn’t working, we have to question our own role in it, which is highly relevant in healthcare.

“The opposite to poverty is not wealth…in many places it is is justice”, says Bryan Stevenson in this talk. Please take 23 minutes and 20 seconds to see this talk from TEDMED 2012.
